Description

It can reduce the tension of smooth muscle, dilate the airway; promote the release of endogenous adrenaline and norepinephrine, relax the airway smooth muscle; inhibit the release of calcium ions from the smooth muscle endoplasmic reticulum, reduce the intracellular calcium concentration and produce airway dilation . Theophylline has a stronger relaxing effect on smooth muscle but less than a beta agonist.

Application

1. For bronchial asthma, acute bronchitis, asthmatic bronchitis, obstructive emphysema, etc., to relieve wheezing symptoms. Also suitable for symptoms of bronchospasm associated with chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

2. Can be used for patients with cardiogenic asthma, cardiogenic edema and acute cardiac insufficiency.

3. Can also be used for patients with biliary colic.

Precautions

This product should be taken after meals to reduce gastrointestinal irritation; smoking, chronic alcoholism and induction of liver drug enzymes can reduce the plasma concentration of theophylline, theophylline dose needs to be appropriately increased. Theophylline can cause arrhythmia, worsening the original arrhythmia, and any changes in the patient's heart rate or heart rate should be closely watched.

When the theophylline is injected intravenously or the plasma concentration of theophylline is higher than 20 μg/ml, toxicity may occur, which may be arrhythmia, increased heart rate, muscle fibrillation, epilepsy, transient hypotension or peripheral circulatory failure.
